Permissions explained
Chrome extensions must declare every permission upfront. Here is exactly what each permission lets the extension do — and what it does not do.
What data is collected and where it goes
The extension handles three types of data. Here is a complete picture:
| Data | Where it lives | Sent externally? |
|---|---|---|
| Groq API key The key you enter in Settings. |
Local storage Your device only. |
Sent as a request header to api.groq.com only — never to any other server. |
| Prompt text The text you select or type. |
Groq API Processed server-side. |
Sent to Groq to generate the improved version. Governed by Groq's Privacy Policy. We do not intercept, log, or store this on any server we operate. |
| Prompt history Before/after pairs shown in the History tab. |
Local storage Your device only. |
Never transmitted anywhere. Stored only on your device and cleared when you use "Clear all." |
| Browsing activity Pages you visit, links you click, etc. |
Not collected | Never. The extension does not observe your browsing activity in any form. |
| Personal information Name, email, location, etc. |
Not collected | Never. We do not ask for or collect any personally identifiable information. |
✦ The extension has no backend, no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no telemetry. It is a direct conduit between your browser and the Groq API — nothing else.
Groq API
The only external service this extension communicates with is the Groq API at api.groq.com. Your prompt text is sent to Groq's servers to generate an improved version. How Groq handles that data is governed entirely by their own privacy policy — we encourage you to review it at groq.com/privacy-policy.
We are not affiliated with Groq, Inc. You supply your own API key and are responsible for your usage under Groq's terms of service.
Deleting your data
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are always in full control:
Delete prompt history — Open the extension popup → History tab → "Clear all." This immediately removes every stored prompt pair from your device.
Delete your API key — Open the extension popup → gear icon → clear the API key field and save.
Delete everything — Uninstalling the extension from Chrome automatically removes all locally stored data.
Children's privacy
This extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. Because the extension collects no personal information at all, this is a moot point in practice — but we state it for completeness.
Changes to this policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will revise the effective date at the top and, for material changes, include a note in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
